Something about computers as my hobby
Last modified on 28.05.1999 22:16
I have used various kinds of computers for about 10 years. First there was an Atari ST
which was better than any of the others, because, if I recall correctly, there were not Amigas
around then. Of course, I was a little kid then and it was just for playing - not many did "serious"
business with computers. We had that one quite long, maybe for 6 years or so, but in 1990
we got a brand new 386. First there was just that gaming and such but as I grew I began to
get acquainted with the system and how it works and not much later I was quite an expert
when it came to dealing with Dos and Windows. I admit I didn't do much of the "serious"
work, but I wasn't good at drawing or composing music or some such and programming didn't somehow
allure me but I learned the basics of C programming nevertheless . We had new computers
in the years' run and new hardware and it was I that installed them and took care
of them if they didn't work. That way I gained quite a lot of experience in dealing with
such things.
The computer I use now isn't the best you can get, good enough to show off <grin>.
It's a K6-2/300 with 128 megs of memory and enough harddisk space. There are devices like Sound Blaster 16 VE, Nokia 15" 449E Monitor, and HP SureStore 7200i CD-RW.
The current operating systems and/or platforms
include Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0, Dos and Linux.
Something to think about
